About the role
Seeking a Senior Accountant to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization with multiple government and private funding sources. This position will replace a retiring team member and play a key role in fund accounting, financial reporting, audits, and compliance.
What you'll actually do
• Manage full-cycle accounting for grants, contracts, vouchers, and private funding sources
• Prepare financial statements and maintain GAAP-compliant records
• Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors
• Handle account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
• Monitor program revenue and expenses and ensure proper grant reporting
• Support budgeting and financial reporting efforts
• Mentor junior accounting staff and collaborate with AP, Payroll, and Budget teams
• Assist with accounting process improvements and future system implementations
What we're looking for
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and audit processes
• Experience with grants and compliance reporting
• Proficiency with accounting systems; FundEZ, PASSport, or Sage Intacct a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
