Director of Finance & Accounting – Healthcare Focus

Location: Jacksonville, Fl | Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Finance & Accounting to lead financial operations within a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will provide analytical insights, oversee day-to-day accounting activities, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and review accrual accounting processes, including revenue, reserve accruals, treasury, and other income/expense streams.
• Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial records.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and coordinate accounting policy discussions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis with attention to healthcare compliance.
• Assist the accounting team with external audits and financial reporting.
• Prepare regular and ad hoc reports and analyses for leadership decision-making.
• Mentor and manage accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required); CPA preferred.
• Experience:
• 7 years in general accounting, financial reporting, or analysis.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and compliance standards.
• 5 years in a management role preferred.
• Experience in healthcare accounting or public accounting at Manager/Director level is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Experience with ERP systems such as GreatPlains (GP) preferred; NextGen a plus.
• Other Skills:
• Superior verbal and written communication.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Physical & Work Environment:

• Work may require standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and other general physical tasks.
• Flexible work environment with potential for remote work based on departmental needs.
