A growing organization in Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee its accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end close process. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that will partner closely with executive management while leading the day-to-day accounting function.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical accountant who can improve processes, develop a high-performing team, and provide accurate financial information to support business decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and management reporting
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets
• Develop and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, banking relationships, and regulatory reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, automate reporting, and strengthen financial controls
• Provide financial analysis and strategic insights to executive leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
• Support system implementations, acquisitions, integrations, and other special projects as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager capacity
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls
• Previous experience managing and developing accounting professionals
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing environment
• CPA or master’s degree is preferred
