Controller, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Our client is seeking a hands-on Divisional Controller to lead all financial activity for a single operating site. This role owns the full P&L and Balance Sheet and partners closely with operations to drive financial performance. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between accounting, FP&A, and real-time operational decision-making in a small, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own monthly close, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and cash flow, with support from a Staff Accountant
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reserves
- Maintain and explain Balance Sheet accounts including inventory, WIP, AR/AP, and fixed assets
- Lead annual budget, quarterly forecast, and rolling forecast processes
- Perform variance analysis and clearly communicate drivers to management
- Develop and track KPIs related to margin, labor efficiency, inventory, and overhead
- Support pricing, quoting, and margin analysis
- Partner closely with the General Manager and operations leaders on day-to-day financial decisions
- Translate operational activity into financial impact
- Support job costing, inventory management, and production reporting
- Identify cost-reduction and margin-improvement opportunities
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements
- Oversee cash management, AR, AP, and working capital
- Act as primary finance contact for auditors, banks, and corporate finance
- Lead and develop the Staff Accountant
- Improve processes, close timelines, and reporting quality
- Actively use and improve ERP and financial systems (Quantum experience a plus)
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally in manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial environments
- Experience owning both accounting and FP&A responsibilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the organization
- Comfortable in a hands-on, small-team environment
- Experience with modern accounting and ERP systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA a plus
- U.S. Citizenship required
