Controller / Accounting Manager
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller / Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations in a stable, small-company environment. This role supervises one Accounts Receivable employee and serves as the primary accounting resource for the organization, working closely with an external CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and administer weekly payroll for approximately 25 non-union employees using ADP
- Manage accounts payable and oversee accounts receivable activities
- Supervise one Accounts Receivable employee
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
- Initiate and process wire transfers
- Prepare financial information and supporting schedules for the external CPA firm
- Coordinate closely with outside accountants on financial reporting and accounting matters
- Handle month-end accounting activities and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Assist with basic HR administration, including employee records and related documentation
- Prepare bank deposits and perform occasional post office runs
- Support daily administrative and accounting functions as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
- Experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar role
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
- Experience with ADP payroll processing required
- QuickBooks experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a small business environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
