Job Title: Lead Data Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Spark and Databricks.
- Build and automate end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows using Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance data processing solutions using Python.
- Work with data warehousing technologies such as Amazon Redshift or Snowflake to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Write complex and efficient SQL queries to transform, validate, and analyze large datasets.
- Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions.
- Monitor and improve pipeline performance, scalability, and data quality.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and best engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 7 years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
- Strong experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing.
- Expertise in Databricks for data engineering workflows.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
- Solid experience with Airflow or other pipeline orchestration tools.
- Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts (Redshift or Snowflake preferred).
- Advanced SQL skills with experience in large-scale data operations.
- Experience working with cloud environments (AWS preferred).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis).
- Knowledge of CI/CD for data pipelines.
- Familiarity with data modeling and governance frameworks.
Location: Mclean, VA (3 days onsite)
Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $130,000– $140,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
