Ascencione currently designs, manufactures, and supplies the following qualified, field-proven products to DoD customers:
1. Self-Canceling Turn Switches
· Safety-critical driver interface components used on military tactical vehicles
· Supports fleet standardization and sustainment replacement programs
2. Smart Start System (S3)
· Deployed on HMMWVs, MRAPs, MRUVs, FMTV, and other diesel platforms
· Integrated system combining:
o Glow plug control
o Vehicle starting system
o Power management & distribution
· Key contributor to cold-start reliability, battery protection, and mission readiness
3. Master Vehicle Light Switch (MVLS)
· The world’s first ruggedized electronic lighting master switch
· Specifically engineered for harsh military tactical environments
· Safety-critical, configuration-controlled component
4. Series 1100 Transistorized Flasher
· Solid-state flasher widely used on military trucks, buses, and heavy vehicles
· Proven reliability over millions of fleet miles
· Sustainment and replacement-driven demand
5. Hydraulic Generator Systems
· Family of 4.5kW to 25kW hydraulically controlled generator systems
· Microprocessor controlled closed loop systems
· Provides “clean” regulated power 120/240 VAC
These products position Ascencione squarely in vehicle electrical architecture, driver controls, and sustainment-critical subsystems.
Skills & Experience
BSME with 3-5 years, direct hands-on design/development/implementation experience (SolidWorks/CAD) preferred. Molding, forming, additive manufacturing & electronics integration experience a plus. Advanced GD&T Principles proficiency. Strong problem-solving/methodologies (8D, DMAIC, DOE, RCA, etc.).
· Strong product design experience with ability to conceptualize, simulate, benchmark, reverse engineer, design, apply FMEA and DFA/DFM. Engineering strengths such as GD&T, tolerance stackups, assemblies, components, mating, fitting, and sealing.
· Working knowledge of materials science and material properties: plastics, elastomers, metals, fluids. Experience with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and control theory (particularly with fluidics). Valve and Hydraulic design experience a plus.
· SolidWorks/FEA preferred, Catia or Pro/E exposure, PDM, PLM, and Office software.
· Track record of employing automotive development methods such as APQP, ECO/ECR-ECN, PPAP, quality management systems, manufacturing quality standards, design and test standards (ASME, ASTM, or ANSI). Maintaining the role of quality from design to manufacturing.
· Experience with various fabrication methods - machining, molding, (overmolding, insert molding, multi-materials), stamping, forming (sheet metal cutting/ forming), AM, making tooling/fixtures, assembly/jig making.
· Preferred experience with electronics integration, product design with PCB assemblies and developing electromechanical and mechatronic parts and systems.
· Demonstrated involvement with testing & validation exercises using best practices for DVP&R, HALT testing, environmental tests, meeting automotive standards and requirements. Military spec compliance/PPAP a plus.
· Exceptional communications skills, written & verbal (reporting, analysis, presentation)
