The Accounts Payable Director is responsible for the management and continuous development of the consolidated Accounts Payable Department that service all for Asbury dealerships & Corporate offices. The role of the AP Director is to ensure all AP transactions are processed timely, service level agreements are met, a high level of customer service is maintained and processes are in compliance with company policy and audit controls.

The Accounts Payable Director is responsible for the management and continuous development of the consolidated Accounts Payable Department that service all for Asbury dealerships & Corporate offices. The role of the AP Director is to ensure all AP transactions are processed timely, service level agreements are met, a high level of customer service is maintained and processes are in compliance with company policy and audit controls.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Daily oversight of the Store Vendor, Corporate Vendor, National Accounts, ODC and Factory AP teams
- Parts physical inventory recommendations
- General ledger work, JMA, P-Card and Wex statement posting oversight
- Nvoice Pay system oversight and bank reconciliation review
- Ensuring all processes are in compliance with Sox and internal audit controls, performs monthly certifications of audit controls
- Serves as the highest escalation level for AP
- Ensures all department transactions are processed timely, accurately and in accordance with company standards/policies
- Responsible for company communications regarding AP processes, changes, deadlines or training
- Works with External and internal audit to fulfill audit requests
- Oversight of debit balance reconciliation and collections
- Compilation of AP accrual reports, other reporting as needed
- Hiring, training and professional development of AP associates
- AP project lead for acquisitions or other AP projects
- Responsible for Vendor Management database & Help Desk, 1099 issuance
- Responsible for Purchase Card & Fuel Card Administration & Help Desks
- Approver of payment files for all dealer groups and Corporate AP
- A comprehensive understanding of Accounts Payable
- Detailed understanding of process workflows, metrics, and service level agreements
- Analytical, detail-oriented
- Strong, clear and concise communication skills
- Advanced understanding of using technology to increase productivity
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or accounting OR 6 years of relevant dealership operations experience
- Advanced level in Excel with ability to create ad hoc reports from varying databases
- Dealership software or similar ERP experience preferred (CDK, Reynolds, SAP, NetSuite, etc.)
- 5-10 years progressive Management and Leadership experience with large teams
