Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for design, development, construction, testing and documentation of electrical systems and devices (PLC based, and following NFPA, NEC codes) that will drive improvements and efficiency in the precious metals refining processes.

This position has the following responsibilities:

• PLC Programming
• Design electrical systems and PLC configuration for processes and equipment in the plant.
• Application of laws and regulations related to new design, and retrofit, of electrical machinery and equipment (NFPA, NEC).
• Calculate required capacities of various primary and secondary electrical equipment.
• Conduct research and / or testing into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components, and systems.
• Plan and manage projects; and prepare materials, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
• Review designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
• Use Management of Change (MOC) to design, fabricate and install new, or modified equipment, and electrical systems.
• Supervise and inspect the installation, modification, and commissioning of electrical systems on site.
• Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance.
• Develop electrical/instrumentation maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to facility departments.
• Help investigate / troubleshoot electrical/PLC failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
• Select appropriate control sensors to match process constraints and usage environment.
• Circuit load, wiring design, route design, and conduit design for electrical work.
• Develop commissioning protocols and document outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

• University degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5-10 years’ related experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing plant, mine, refinery, or heavy industrial.
• Knowledge of electrical wiring, control wiring, and assembly of electrical components.
• A complete understanding, and practice of PSM (Process Safety Management) standards.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in programming Allen Bradley PLCs (Software Studio5000), combined with knowledge and experience programming Allen-Bradley HMIs.
• Self-starter
• Ability to design control panel hardware.
• Understanding of UL508A.
• Understanding of NEC and NFPA regulations in electrical design.
• Able to supervise electrical work, validate adherence to project specifications.
• Able to work with contractors to perform hardware design.
• Ability to perform scheduling and keep work on schedule.
• AutoCAD competence
• Management of Change (MOC) experience

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

• P&ID experience
• HAZOP experience
• Knowledge and experience in programming Mitsubishi PLC's.
• Knowledge and experience with Schneider touch screen "Pro-face".
• Knowledge and experience with OT networks.
• Ability to design in accordance with ISO standard safety category 3.
• Experience with PI
