The Director of F&B L&D and Quality with F&B 575 at Aman New York is responsible for the training and quality assurance of the F&B department. Through hands-on leadership, coaching, and evaluation, the Director of F&B L&D and Quality will elevate the team performance while ensuring quality standards, staff performance and guest satisfaction are met.
This position has a salary range of $105,000 to $120,000.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Design, implement, and manage training programs for all service and culinary colleagues, including weekly classroom style service seminars.
- Create training materials, manuals, and tools that support service standards and skill development.
- Conduct new hire orientation ensuring staff fully understand company culture, brand values, policies, service standards, and LQA standards.
- Ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the company culture and operations.
- Create and grade training quizzes and mock service appraisal to ensure staff is effectively knowledgeable and trained before being “live.”
- Pair new hires with current staff to effectively train for role.
- Develop and oversee a train the trainer program to equip designated colleagues with the skills and knowledge to effectively train others in their specific roles and responsibilities.
- Actively participate in restaurant operations by being present on the floor during service, organize operational training with department heads, and provide support to the restaurant management team as needed.
- Provide ongoing coaching, evaluations, and refresher trainings to maintain high service standards.
- Partner with managers to identify training needs and develop programs that address skills gaps to improve performance and growth.
- Constantly review and appraise the procedures with the department to always ensure quality of service and product.
- Oversee and ensure the consistent implementation of both anonymous and non-anonymous service evaluations to maintain and enhance service quality.
- Conduct regular audits of restaurant operations, food safety, and guest service delivery.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for consistency across all shifts.
- Oversee, track, and ensure the timely completion of all training modules and required training programs for all colleagues.
- Track and analyze training metrics to assess the effectiveness of training initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present reports on all training initiatives, challenges, and achievements to senior leadership.
- Attend meetings and briefings with other Department Heads as determined by the Director of Food & Beverage Operations.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Assist in the building of an efficient team of colleagues by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and development.
- Ensure that all colleagues always provide courteous and professional service.
- Counsel colleagues for any breaches of conduct and follow policies when issuing formal disciplinary notice.
- Train and appraise new hires on Point of Sale (Micros Oracle) functionality.
- Train new hires and current staff on Department of Health and Diversey Audit safety standards and protocols.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in restaurant operations, training, or quality assurance leadership in a restaurant or luxury hotel setting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on delivering results.
