THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND PART TIME POSITION!

Responsibilities:

·        Teach free and ticketed art-making programs to visitors of all ages (primarily youth), which may include field trips, multi-week classes, drop-in workshops, private parties, crafts at festivals outreach events, and more.

·        Work with Manager of Visual Arts to develop projects and lesson plans for art-making programs.

·        Assist with day-to-day operations of Visual Arts and Education programs, which may include supply preparation, supply inventory and ordering, classroom organization and maintenance, open studio monitoring, and more.

·        Lead exhibition tours to visitors of all ages.

·        Assist with day-to-day operations of ArtsQuest Summer Art Camp as needed. This may include assisting in classrooms, facilitating drop-off and pick-up, monitoring recess and lunch breaks, supply preparation, and more.

·        Provide support for ArtsQuest events including First Fridays, Block Party, People’s Ball, Second Sundays, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • B.A., B.F.A, or A.A. (or equivalent work experience) in art education, fine art, art history, or related field. High School Diploma required.
  • Experience working with children is desired.
  • Knowledge of a variety of visual arts mediums desired.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity is a must
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills—ability to interact with both children and adults
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Bi-lingual ability in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between facilities as needed.

Physical Demands

·        Regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing.

·        Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, crawl, and kneel.

·        Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, etc.

·        Frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable assistance.

·        Frequently required to travel between our facilities, using reliable transportation.

·        Employee should have the ability to read, write and communicate in English; bi-lingual ability in Spanish or other language is a plus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., however the employee must be willing and able to work outside normal business hours to support our events and activities throughout the year as needed, including evenings, weekend and holidays when necessary and during events and festivals.

 

Travel: Travel is required between buildings, for off-site meetings and events and is expected for this position. Employees should have a reliable means of transportation to enable them to travel between our buildings, facilities and festivals.

  • Ability to work harmoniously in a diverse office environment
  • Normal working environment is mostly indoors, however, the ability to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions during festivals and events is required.
