Brief Description

Position Overview:

Develop, manage and implement all aspects of ArtsQuest’s membership programs. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Member program including but not limited to development of membership policies and procedures (internal and external), cultivation and communication with members, determination of membership and donor benefits, management of membership budget, record keeping, tracking, fulfillment, customer service and coordination of special projects, events, and/or assignments. Development of member strategies; acting as one of the primary points of contact with member and donor prospects; collaboration with staff in initiating, maintaining, and growing member and donor relationships as well as achieving annual fundraising goals. Responsible for relationship management and acquisition of individual members and supporters; collaborates with the Manager of Donor Relations, with staff and board members to initiate, maintain and grow supporters from volunteers to members to donors.

Job Responsibilities

Membership

  • Develop, manage and direct all aspects of ArtsQuest’s membership programs.
  • Facilitate, create, monitor, set the tone and style, and implement ArtsQuest membership solicitations, communication and marketing plans to attract and retain Members and to meet annual membership revenue goals.
  • Provide membership and donor customer service, assisting via phone, email and/or in person.
  • Maintain open communication and dialogue with Box Office to facilitate Member pre-sales and ticketing needs of Members.
  • Create and implement ongoing customer relations training for appropriate ArtsQuest staff including but not limited to Box Office, Customer Experience Representatives, hospitality, administrative personnel and front desk staff.
  • Provide regular reports of progress against membership goals (acquisition & renewal), identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Insure accurate and timely data entry, fulfillment, and maintenance of membership information within database, including follow-up on credit card payments and late payments.
  • Work with fellow Development Team members to accurately assess the overall contribution and effectiveness of ArtsQuest’s membership programs within the organizational budget.
  • As part of Development Team, work to identify and cultivate prospects among ArtsQuest’s members and advocates.

Development

  • Manage the cultivation, retention and growth of existing and new members to ArtsQuest.
  • Participate in the creation, development, communication and implementation of a donor gift strategy, moving supporters from members to higher level individual donors. Work with the Sr. Director of Advancement and Manager of Donor Relations to create, maintain and update a list of higher-level member and donor prospects; work with the Strategic Systems Support Administrator to coordinate efforts of prospect research; delivering member and donor benefits; identifying higher-level donors; and developing a migration plan.
  • Work with the Development team to establish and reach annual fundraising goals.
  • Act as one of the primary solicitors of member prospects, coordinating relationship development for prospects with staff and with board members and/or volunteers.
  • Work with the Sr. Director of Development and Manager of Donor Relations to proactively identify donor prospects with the capacity to make gifts of $2,500 or more.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage Membership cultivation and recognition events.
  • Follow up with members and prospective donors; provide them with timely information and/or progress reports on supported projects.
  • Work collaboratively with Sr. Director of Development and ArtsQuest senior staff to develop strategies, secure fundraising goals.
  • Provide support and solicit gifts for special projects, including capital campaigns, as needed.
  • Work in conjunction with operations, marketing, finance and performing arts to ensure support for member and donor fulfillment, marketing communications, and any other required commitments.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) credentials a plus.
  • Ability to represent ArtsQuest favorably and effectively to our stakeholders and the community at large with knowledge of ArtsQuest arts and cultural programs.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated success achieving measurable results with membership and fundraising goals; a proven track record of working at increasing levels of responsibility and success. Or transferable experience
  • A strategic, innovative thinker who has demonstrated success in the identification of member prospects, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of members and individual donors.
  • Ease and expertise in working with members, staff and committees.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a superior attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision, and a sense of core purpose to our members and donors.
  • Exceptional, assertive project management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to build and maintain long term relationships with members and prospective donors.
  • Experience with philanthropy and fundraising in a non-profit environment.
  • Enthusiasm for developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and follow-through.
  • Ability to think independently, problem solve and troubleshoot.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and superior fundraising database management skills, i.e., Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge familiarity a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a strategic team.
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism.
  • A valid driver’s license and a vehicle and the ability to travel between our buildings and venues and to cultivation events locally and regionally.
  • This position requires flexibility in hours to meet with members, including evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary during our events and activities.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to communicate, either verbally and/or in writing. Frequently required to stand; walk, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds, and up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable assistance.

Frequently required to travel between our facilities, using reliable transportation. Employee may

occasionally be required to travel offsite for business meetings.

Employee should have the ability to read, write and communicate in English; bi-lingual ability in Spanish or other language is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., however the employee must be willing and able to work outside normal business hours to support our events and activities throughout the year as needed, including evenings, weekend and holidays when necessary and during events and festivals.

Travel: Travel is required between buildings, for off-site meetings and events and is expected for this position. Employees should have a reliable means of transportation to enable them to travel between our buildings, facilities and festivals.
