Arts & Athletics is an established afterschool enrichment program serving several elementary schools on the Upper West Side. For over twenty years, we have provided a wide variety of high-quality classes, taught by talented instructors with expertise in their field.
As a growing organization, we are expanding our team of highly motivated and energetic staff. Currently, we are seeking to hire ‘Science Experiments’ Instructors for the upcoming school year.
Job Description:
In coordination with the site supervisor, the science instructor will develop, plan and lead simple science experiments that engage elementary school-aged kids. Our school partners are located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach age-appropriate hands-on Science experiments
- Build lesson plans in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
- Create a fun and safe learning environment
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff and participate in regular meetings Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience with elementary school kids
- Passionate about working with children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized and committed
- Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject
- Experience in STEM subjects (Math, Technology or Science) would be a plus, but not necessary (or mandatory)
Eligible candidates must be available from 2:45-5:45pm, at least 3 days a week
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 - $33.00 per hour
