Special Education Paraprofessional
Job Description:
Special education paraeducators assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified Special Education and general education teacher who is ultimately responsible for the students. The Paraeducator may work in the Resource Room or work in a general education classroom providing supports and services as they apply to student IEP accommodations.
Responsibilities may include:
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff
- Monitor student work, correct papers, and supervise testing
- Consult with the IEP team to provide input on the creation of individual education plans (IEP) for special education students
- Provides feedback and monitors progress of the students assigned to the paraprofessional
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Associates degree in related field and/or PA Certificate of Competency for Paraprofessionals
- Experience with students with special needs within the classroom (preferred)
- All clearances as required by PA and AACS
Other Considerations:
Special education paraeducators must have the emotional maturity to work with students who have special needs. They must be patient, dependable and hardworking. They must follow the directions of the teacher and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. They must have basic English and math skills to assist students with assignments. Special education paraeducators must maintain confidentiality around information about students.
Training and onboarding provided on-site upon acceptance of the position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
