General Summary

The Museum Special Programs Coordinator works collaboratively across departments to research, plan, implement, and evaluate museum lectures and special programs in alignment with the museum’s strategic goal to more fully engage and embrace broader and more diverse audiences. Serves as point of contact on museum lectures and special programs, ensuring efficiency, fostering positive audience experiences and strengthening community partnerships. Builds inclusivity in museum programming through Spanish-language interpretation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Coordinate The Baker Museum Lecture Series and other special museum programs from start to finish by proactively communicating and working collaboratively with other Artis—Naples departments, including Artist Services, Marketing, Finance, Education, Development, Production, Facilities, Front of House, Patron Services, Security and The Baker Museum Store.
  • Under the supervision of Curators, research and identify potential museum lecturers based on their areas of expertise, their relevance to the Museum’s programming, and their likely availability/interest in participating in The Baker Museum Lecture Series.
  • Work with Museum Director and Chief Curator to create and manage annual budget for museum lectures and special programs.
  • Process contracts, program agreements, and invoices.
  • Build online program listings and help develop other audience-facing program materials. 
  • Develop effective tools to evaluate the success of museum lectures and special programs; assesses programs for strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Form and maintain successful working relationships with artists, vendors, community partners and other external contacts.
  • Serve as main relationship contact for museum guests, including visiting artists, curators, scholars and vendors. Coordinate travel arrangements, accommodation, ground transportation, expense reimbursement and/or per diem payment for museum guests
  • In collaboration with Education team, organize, guide and maintain museum community partnership efforts related to exhibitions and museum programming, with a focus on the Artis—Naples IDEA core value.
  • Translate content for Artis—Naples events and exhibitions (including wall texts, labels, brochures, catalogs, advertising, social media copy, flyers, etc.) into Spanish, in close collaboration with the exhibitions team. Navigate challenges presented by specialized terminology, space limitations and gender inclusivity.
  • Represent Artis—Naples, The Baker Museum in Spanish-speaking media outlets.
  • Observe safety requirements. Report safety issues and items requiring work orders to Supervisor or Security.
  • Work effectively with all Artis—Naples team members.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, Competencies and Core Values

 

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine art, art history, history or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience required, preferable in the arts or a nonprofit environment.
  • Familiarity with museums and visual culture.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
