Driving Instructor & Trainer
We are seeking a Driving Instructor & Trainer to assist in all aspects of our day-to-day business operations. This role is critical to fostering a positive, productive workplace and ensuring compliance with all company policies and safety regulations. The Driving Instructor & Trainer will work closely with leadership and the Director of Safety to supportjob training for all employee driving-related activities, playing a key role in shaping a culture of safety, accountability, and mutual respect.
This position is ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands-on, with a passion for supporting people and driving organizational success.
As a key member of our safety team, the Driving Instructor & Trainer is expected to be fully present in the field at all locations on a rotating basis to support staff, collaborate with leadership, and maintain day-to-day functions.

Responsibilities:
- Champion a respectful, inclusive, and safety-driven workplace culture.
- Assist & train all new and existing employees in driver training/defensive driving techniques, including the following:
- The Smith Driving System
- Completion of required paperwork
- Fuel-efficient driving & other techniques
- Company policies & regulations
- Conduct annual driver road tests for all employees who are certified to drive company vehicles.
- Assist location managers in completing annual driver demonstrations.
- Complete follow-up training that is identified through observation rides or accident investigations.
- Strictly observe all safety rules & regulations and promptly report any accidents or injuries to management.
- Develop a comprehensive program to reduce driving-related incidents.
- Provide quality assurance & quality control for all Artio safety policies and procedures; report any issues to the Director of Safety promptly.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Commercial driver's license plus a minimum of five (5) years of CDL driving experience, with no air brake restrictions on CDL.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Valid USDOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate card.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to interact with customers on an as-needed basis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to all company locations and yards on a regular basis. Currently, yards are in Pennsylvania and New Jersey – however, this will expand as the company continues to grow.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Prior experience in the utility construction or traffic control industries.
· Prior knowledge of safety-related and OSHA regulations.
· Smith System Certification
