What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager Third Shift position at ARTHUR SCHUMAN MASTER?
Primary Purpose: A Production Manager oversees daily manufacturing operations from production to packaging, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient production. Key responsibilities include managing staff, optimizing yields, controlling costs (labor/materials), and enforcing sanitation.
Responsibilities:
- Direct day-to-day production operations in your assigned area including manufacturing, scheduling and processing, ensuring that customer orders are met efficiently
- Lead the people and processes for your assigned functional area(s)
- Optimize production efficiency, maximize product yield and reduce waste
- Effectively utilize labor and other resources to maximize efficiency and productivity
- Perform managerial functions including but not limited to: employee training, mentoring, scheduling, performance management, disciplinary action, performance reviews, responding to employee questions and concerns, work direction, ensuring safe work practices.
- Analyze manufacturing data to review and respond to reports on yield, trim, labor costs, and operational trends
- Responsible for employee attendance occurrences, policy violations, performance related conversations, etc.
- Complete department paperwork and data entry
- Foster a safe working environment, ensuring that safety is a top priority for you and your team and that safety rules and procedures are followed
- Ensure all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are being followed and adhered to
- Ensure sanitation duties are being completed to satisfaction and paperwork is being completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Orientate and train new employees into the work environment and job duties
- Partner with Quality to implement new regulation and compliance measures
- Perform work tasks on the floor as needed
Education, Qualities and Skills Required:
- 2 years in a leadership role in manufacturing or factory setting; dairy experience is a plus
- High School Diploma minimum. Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science, Food Science or related field is a plus
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Good conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
- Ability to lead by example (demonstrate strong work ethic, positive attitude, etc.)
- Effectively able to plan and prioritize work
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Supervisory Responsibility:
Will manage the production employees in your assigned area, including leads, operators and general laborers.
Work Environment:
Cold plant/warehouse environment with temps ranging from 30-45 degrees daily. Requires walking on wet, slippery floors and standing for long periods of time in cold temperatures.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time salaried position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectations of 50-60 hours per week, to be worked during third-shift business hours.

1. Standing: Prolonged periods of standing in a production environment.
2. Visual Requirements: Extended periods of visually supervising machines and emloyees in a hectic production environment; some periods of viewing a computer screen and reading printed or digital documents.

5. Manual Dexterity: The ability to handle a variety of equipment, including production equipment, hand tools, and products.
6. Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
7. Lifting: Occasionally lifting and carrying light objects, typically up to 50 pounds, such as cases of product, individual products, tools, materials, files, and documents.
8. Reaching and Bending: Reaching above shoulder height and bending to access production lines and products.
9. Hearing: Adequate hearing ability to hear clearly within the production environment, utilizing required hearing protection.

Compensation and Benefits:
The budgeted salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000, with a 12.5% annual bonus potential.
