POSITION SUMMARY
The Summer Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons in and around the pool or aquatic facility. This role requires constant vigilance, quick response to emergencies, and the enforcement of facility rules and safety regulations to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the safety of all people within the fenced area of the swimming pool.
- Maintain clean and chemically balanced swimming pools, a safe and clean pool house, storage area, and equipment.
- Maintain proper documentation of swimmers on daily sign-in sheets, liability waivers and maintain daily chemical logs.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross) - Advanced Lifesaving, First Aid and CPR.
- Strong swimming skills and physical stamina
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Visual Acuity for identifying chemical imbalances in pool water.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to swim long distances and perform rescues
- Ability to lift or assist individuals in distress
- Ability to hear and see distressed swimmers in a noisy environment
- Ability to climb, bend, and stoop
- Heavy- Exerting 50 to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or more than 50lbs. of force frequently and/or more than 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are more than those for Heavy work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Outdoor environment with prolonged exposure to sun, heat, and humidity
- Requires standing, sitting, and swimming for extended periods
- May require working weekends, holidays, and flexible hours
