What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Tax Planning & Operations position at Artemis?
Overview: We are a high-tech, AI-enabled venture that is rapidly expanding our global operations and looking for a Director of Tax Planning & Operations. We are in the process of building out our global teams and looking for someone dynamic to work in-step with our Global Head of Tax on entity planning, implementation of global tax structures, transfer pricing, IP strategies, M&A, and more. We are looking for someone ready to roll-up their sleeves and play a strategic role in shaping the future of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and continually refine best-in-class processes, systems, policies and documentation to support efficient and scalable tax operations.
- Assist in structuring of global transactions, including due-diligence, structuring, and implementation for acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, etc., and contribute to multi-disciplinary transaction and project teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Prepare tax-related financial analysis and models.
- Work with internal stakeholders, and outside service providers to implement and maintain tax-efficient transfer pricing and supply chain models.
- Assist with tax planning initiatives and strategies to optimize tax savings while minimizing risk, including tax-efficient strategies for new products, contracts, investments, jurisdictions and entity structuring.
- Execute all aspects of global tax compliance and operations across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions, including direct and indirect taxes (e.g., VAT, sales & use tax, etc.).
- Proactively monitor and manage tax risk across all relevant jurisdictions.
- Manage R&D tax credit studies, including all internal and external coordination.
- Manage strategic planning, goal reporting and budgeting for the tax function.
- Conduct complex tax research, writing and analysis in a wide array of asset classes, jurisdictions and tax disciplines.
- Continually evaluate and implement tax technology-driven and AI-enabled solutions to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and enhance data sharing and insight generation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Tax Technical Skills
- Robust and broad tax technical expertise, knowledgeable in the areas of transfer pricing, international tax, sales and use tax, and federal and state income tax impacts of operations on partners in a partnership (both individual and C Corp).
- Strong issue spotting, research, and writing skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Tax and financial modeling experience and acumen.
- Proven track record of managing tax compliance engagements for complex clients.

Education and Experience:
- 6 years of tax experience within a nationally recognized accounting firm or equivalent industry role, with experience managing multinational organizations.
- Strong background in cross-border entity structuring, transfer pricing, and intercompany planning.
- Experience supporting multinational operations and global expansion in a high-growth environment.
- Experience partnering with finance, legal, and supply chain teams on operational and tax-efficient structures.
- Exposure to global supply chain planning, principal structures, and intercompany flows preferred.
- Experience in high-tech, software, semiconductor, hardware, or SaaS industries preferred.
- CPA, MST, and/or JD preferred.
Salary : $275,000 - $300,000
