Recreation Manager – Marina, Beach & Activities

Position Summary
The Recreation Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all recreational operations at the resort, including the marina, beach facilities, and guest activity programs. This role ensures safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for guests of all ages while maintaining high operational standards, safety compliance, and exceptional customer service. The Recreation Manager supervises recreation staff, manages equipment and facilities, and develops seasonal activity programs that enhance the resort’s guest experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecreation & Activity Programming
- Develop, schedule, and manage daily, weekly, and seasonal recreation programs for resort guests.
- Plan activities such as water sports, beach games, family activities, group events, and resort entertainment.
- Coordinate recreational activities for conferences, corporate retreats, weddings, and group bookings.
- Create innovative programs to increase guest participation and satisfaction.
Marina Operations
- Oversee marina operations including boat rentals, watercraft management, and dock supervision.
- Ensure safe operation of all watercraft including pontoons, kayaks, paddleboards, and other equipment.
- Manage marina staff scheduling, training, and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local boating regulations and safety standards.
Beach & Waterfront Management
- Supervise beach operations including guest safety, equipment rentals, and facility maintenance.
- Ensure proper signage, safety equipment, and supervision of waterfront areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the beach and surrounding recreational areas.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise recreation and marina staff.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure staff deliver excellent guest service and follow safety procedures.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain safety protocols for water sports, beach activities, and marina operations.
- Ensure proper training in CPR, First Aid, and emergency response procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and recreational facilities.
Equipment & Facility Management
- Maintain inventory of recreational equipment and marina assets.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance of boats, docks, and activity equipment.
- Manage equipment rental processes and usage tracking.
Guest Experience
- Engage with guests to promote recreational activities and enhance the overall resort experience.
- Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and incident reports professionally.
- Promote activities through signage, digital channels, and front desk coordination.
Budget & Administration
- Manage recreation department budget including equipment purchases and operational costs.
- Monitor revenue from rentals, marina services, and recreational programs.
- Prepare reports on activity participation, revenue, and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience managing recreational programs, marina operations, or resort activities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with water sports and marina operations preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety certifications preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
