Arrowhead Talent Solutions is helping a manufacturing company find a new Business Unit Leader for their powder coating operations in the North Canton area.
The role will provide tactical leadership for the powder coat business unit, overseeing operations and driving initiatives to maximize line utilization and profitability. This position is responsible for setting the business plan, developing and executing sales and marketing tactics to build the business to fill the line to a two-shift operation. The role will collaborate with company leaders and teams to achieve financial targets and lead the team to ensure high-quality, defect-free finishes on all metal fabricated parts. Through subordinate team leads, this position also has responsibility to schedule production, optimize workflow, manage supplies, ensure equipment maintenance, and enforce safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
People:
- Direct, mentor, and evaluate team leads and line operators to foster a high-performance culture.
- Lead workforce planning for two shifts per day, ensuring optimal staffing and on-time delivery of customer orders.
Operations:
- Ensure all finished parts meet requirements for coating uniformity, thickness, and coating adhesion. Ensure the team monitors oven temperatures, washers, and chemical stages to prevent defects. Maintain compliance with company quality requirements.
- Develop and continuously improve machine and process operations maintenance. Coordinate routine and preventive equipment maintenance and calibrations to reduce production downtime and improve quality.
- Manage inventory levels for powders, masking supplies, and chemical wash solutions.
Sales and Marketing
- Develop and lead sales and marketing strategies to fill powder coat line capacity for two shifts per day. Analyze market trends, identify new business opportunities, and build partnerships to increase revenue and maximize profit. Collaborate with sales team to create promotional campaigns targeting new and existing customers, ensuring sustained demand and profitability for the business unit.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive powder coating experience, including at least 3 years in a senior supervisory, management, or director role. Proven track record in developing sales and marketing tactics that drive business growth and profitability.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of powder application techniques, chemistry, curing processes, and operations management. Familiarity with sales and marketing concepts relevant to manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
