What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiberglass Chopper Gun/Gelcoat Operator position at Arrowhead Plastic Engineering, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to prepare molds, mix resins and gelcoats and operate Chopper Gun/Gelcoat Spray Equipment to apply chop/resin combinations or gel coat to specific thicknesses and tolerances. The work must be completed according to a daily scheduling program, meet all Quality Assurance standards, and be performed safely with limited supervision. The position requires the ability to address process problems as they arise, maintain, clean and troubleshoot the equipment, and participate in laminating as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS /RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Willing and able to chop all parts with acceptable quality standards and production levels
- Parts chopped to correct customer thickness specifications dictated by customer requirement
- Parts chopped with correct glass/resin ratio – ability to interpret TFM data monitoring
- Must properly monitor the chopper gun and air motor and have a working knowledge of resin and cat pumps maintenance due to dirt, neglect or carelessness is unacceptable
- The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions
- Commitment to promoting a safe, positive, productive and harassment-free workplace
- A consistent regular, reliable and proven attendance record
- A demonstrated ability to complete work according to a daily scheduling program
- A demonstrated ability to meet Quality Assurance standards
- Ability to read a mil thickness/ chop thickness gage
- Ability to maintain all Preventative Maintenance requirements to ensure all equipment is working properly
- Have basic rolling, wet-out gun and parts laminating skills
- Has a basic understanding of specifications, cut-outs, reinforcement placements and critical thickness criteria
- Maintain a safe, clean work area
- Responsibility and authority to verify work affecting quality of the end product
- Competency in Controlled Spraying techniques
- A demonstrated ability to work to all customer specified standards with limited supervision
- Completion of appropriate training certification
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to meet the physical demands working with a chopper day in and day out
- Frequent exposure to 50 ppm or less
- Exposure of skin to resin, acetone, fiberglass, gun flush, catalyst
- Ability to move molds in excess of 75lbs from one workspace to another
