Body Shop Painter Helper

Description

The Body Shop Painter Helper is responsible for assisting the painter with various tasks. This role will have the ability to build on their skill and learn.  

The Body Shop Painter is supervised by the Body Shop Director. 

Essential Functions and Duties

· Assists painter with moving vehicles in and out of the shop

· Clean paint areas and empty trash cans on a daily basis

· Ensure vehicles are clean before they are brought to the painter to paint

· Sanding and buffing vehicles as needed

· Clean spray booth and help change filters as scheduled

· Mask and unmask vehicles. 

· Other duties as assigned.

· Constructively communicate with other dealership personnel as required to satisfy customer needs.

· Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its personnel, or customers. 

· Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policies.  Belts worn on trousers to be of no buckle design to avoid scratching paint on customer’s vehicles.

· Arrive at work, take breaks, and depart work at the times designated by management.

· Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.

· Ensure that work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean.

· Time Management – ability to manage one’s own time

· Automotive Technical Knowledge – Three to five years experience

· The ability to communicate efficiently with body techs, estimators, and manager

· Physical Demands: Standing, walking over 2/3 of the time, sitting to 1/3 of time, kneeling/crouching to 2/3 of time, reaching with hands and arms to 2/3 of time, talking or hearing over 2/3 of time, move, transport or place up to 2/3 of time up to 50 pounds, safe driving based on current conditions and applicable laws.

· Working Conditions: Loud noise and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Some conditions vary depending on the physical structure and layout of the location. These specifics should be reviewed with your manager.

MINIMUM Hiring Requirements

· 1 year of body shop experience

· High school graduate or equivalent

· 18 years or older

· Possess an acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license in state of residence

· A criminal history background check will be conducted prior to beginning employment 

· Clear pre-employment drug screen
