Arrow Plumbing and Drain Services, serving San Diego since 1977, is looking for a driven, enthusiastic Plumbing Technician to join our expanding, family-owned company. We are looking for an experienced plumber ready to take on a variety of plumbing challenges alongside our team. In this position, the plumbing technician will be responsible for all aspects of the installation, maintenance, inspection, service and repair of the plumbing systems in residential and commercial buildings. This includes; installing and repairing sinks, toilets and other plumbing fixtures, as well as appliances including dishwashers and garbage disposals. Depending on experience, technicians will also be responsible for sewer line repair, pipe-lining, hydrojetting, descaling, slab leak repair, and more.
Our company offers extensive on-the-job training and yearly wage increases as your skills develop. Starting pay is determined upon skills and experience. Please note all technicians are drug tested upon hiring and must have a clean driving record to operate the company vehicle.
Hours are Monday-Friday 7:30-5 with hours varying slightly depending on the job and day. Technicians are required to work one week on call per month for emergency calls, while earning bonus pay. Technicians are paid hourly with commission and performance-based bonus opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Complete plumbing, drain cleaning and other related in-home and commercial service calls.
- Serving the clients of the company by expertly servicing customers’ entire plumbing system.
- Complete jobs in a timely manner with minimal callbacks
- Clearly communicating to the client what service you are performing while providing an outstanding customer service experience
- Understand your sales criteria and hold yourself accountable for exceeding revenue goals.
- Establish customer rapport to sell the right products and services.
- Re-check all plumbing repairs and installations after you’ve repaired or replaced it, before leaving the client’s home to ensure everything is working properly and that we did indeed fix it right the first time.
- Show yourself as professional and knowledgeable to win new referrals and repeat business.
- Be accurate and timely with invoices, time cards, and option sheets
- Obey the company Code of Ethics and the Team Rules.
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and well inventoried truck.
- Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving.
- Participate actively in all training exercises, and morning meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years’ technical and trade experience
- Knowledge of maintenance and repairs of plumbing systems
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- General knowledge of power tools and techniques for care and safe use
- Plumbing troubleshooting and repair
- Provide an acceptable driver’s abstract and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Strong customer service skills
Physical Demands
- Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted
- Operate handheld power tools
- Wear personal protective equipment
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day
Working Environment:
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for up to 8 hours
- The Plumber may work in awkward environments and will have to carry all required equipment and supplies at all times.
- Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with sewer and water, exposure to the sounds associated with power tools and construction sites, and exposure to dust and other debris associated with the use of power tools and current home conditions, all of which can cause sensory strain including headaches
