Role Description

This is an on-call 1099 contractor position for an on-site Organizing Assistant based in the Boston, MA area. The Organizing Assistant will support clients through organizing, decluttering, packing, unpacking, and space transition projects in homes, offices, and other environments.


This role includes assisting with sorting and categorizing belongings, preparing spaces for moves, renovations, listings, or other transitions, and helping implement personalized systems that improve function and ease of use. The ideal candidate is calm, adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain steady focus and momentum throughout project sessions.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with decluttering, organizing, packing, and unpacking projects
  • Sorting and categorizing belongings according to client priorities and project timelines
  • Helping prepare spaces for moves, remodels, listings, or life transitions
  • Supporting the setup of functional, easy-to-maintain organizing systems
  • Maintaining a professional, positive, and client-centered approach throughout projects
  • Working both independently and collaboratively while adapting to verbal direction, checklists, and evolving project needs

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize, multitask, and work efficiently within project timelines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and team members
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Ability to adapt to different client needs, workflows, communication styles, and environments
  • Comfortable maintaining a steady, focused pace throughout 4–6 hour organizing sessions
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 40–50 lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, working in tight spaces, and working in dusty or transitional environments when needed
  • Comfortable carrying supplies, donation items, trash, or recycling materials during projects
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel approximately 20–30 miles from the Boston/02136 area
  • Looking for weekday availability with advance notice; weekend availability is also desired
  • Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and basic office or scheduling tools
  • Previous interest or experience in organizing, staging, design, photography, video, social media, or related fields is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
