Shift: 8-Hour Day Shift (7:00 AM 3:30 PM)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week travel assignment in Watertown, NY. The Surgical Technologist will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and assist surgeons and the surgical team by maintaining a sterile operating room environment, preparing surgical instruments and supplies, and providing skilled scrub assistance during surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate will have recent Operating Room experience, strong orthopedic and robotic surgery experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room before surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Perform surgical scrub duties during a variety of operative cases.
• Anticipate the surgeon s needs by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
• Assist with orthopedic surgical procedures.
• Assist during Da Vinci robotic surgeries.
• Verify that all surgical equipment is clean, sterile, and functioning properly before each procedure.
• Handle specimens according to facility policies and procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning and surgical preparation.
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean, sterilize, and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment following infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation as required.
• Follow all safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Assist with departmental duties as assigned.
• Precept and train new staff members when requested.
• Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage.
• Report to the facility within 30 minutes when called in for on-call assignments.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification (Required).
• Current BLS Certification.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred, or current New York State LPN license eligibility.
• COVID vaccination documentation (if available).
• Recent Operating Room experience required.
• Experience with orthopedic and robotic surgical procedures preferred.

• 100-Mile Radius Rule Applies
