The Actuarial Valuation System (AVS) Support Developer is responsible for maintaining, operating, and enhancing the custom-developed AVS to ensure its ongoing reliability and performance. This includes routine monitoring of system performance, availability, and data integrity, as well as diagnosing and resolving system defects, errors, and user-reported issues promptly.
Project Scope/Tasks
The Actuarial Valuation System (AVS) Support Developer is responsible for maintaining, operating, and enhancing the custom-developed AVS to ensure its ongoing reliability and performance. This includes routine monitoring of system performance, availability, and data integrity, as well as diagnosing and resolving system defects, errors, and user-reported issues promptly. The developer manages software patches, updates, and security fixes to maintain system stability and compliance, and collaborates with other team members to support data imports, exports, and backups to ensure the accuracy and security of actuarial data. Providing technical assistance to end-users is also a key aspect of the role, which involves addressing questions, resolving problems related to AVS functionality, and developing user guides, FAQs, and training materials to support effective system usage.
For system enhancements, the AVS Support Developer collaborates with stakeholders and other team members to identify and document requirements for improvements and new features, designs, develops, and tests these enhancements including new modules, reports, and interfaces and conducts thorough quality assurance to ensure enhancements meet business needs without impacting existing functionality. The developer coordinates the deployment of enhancements and updates, ensuring minimal disruption to users. Effective communication and collaboration are essential, as the developer works closely with actuaries, business analysts, and IT teams to align AVS capabilities with organizational needs, participates in change control processes, and ensures transparency and traceability for all system modifications.
Continuous improvement is a core focus, with the developer identifying opportunities to optimize system efficiency, scalability, and user experience, as well as recommending and implementing technology upgrades to keep AVS current with industry standards and best practices. Analysis and Design
Determine the impact of reported defects or enhancements to the existing application.
Propose one or more design options as appropriate to each situation, including a level-of-effort estimate and target delivery date.
Document the design option slected by client
Implementation, Testing and Support
Develop approved application changes within the existing technical environments, using the approved promotion path and QA/testing methodology.
Performing internal unit/QA testing and facilitating user acceptance testing.
Support best practices in use of code repository and Jenkins pipeline for delivery of application and report fixes and enhancements.
Knowledge Transfer
Contractor will provide knowledge transfer of reporting efforts, escalated system issues, and application changes and enhancements.
Knowledge transfer to occur via collaborative documentation, code commenting, cross-training, and job shadowing.
Documentation to include best practices and lessons learned during the project.
Minimum Qualification
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming; at least nine (9) years of said experience shall have included responsibility on a project basis for analyzing operational methods and developing computer programs to meet desired results.
Must have minimum of twelve (12) years of experience working as a solution architect, in providing solutions that aligns with enterprise architecture and aligns with business process in use.
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience implementing Java open-source frameworks like Springboot, Spring Batch etc.
Must have minimum of nine (9) years of experience working with Angular JS, Bootstrap framework and JQuery.
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience with Oracle 11g, Oracle 19c, PL/SQL, SQL.
Must have minimum of seven (7) years if working on new or maintaining existing IT actuarial systems.
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience with Version Control using Git and web-based repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.) and ticketing and collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience with ETL process.
Experience with design, build and deploy applications in the cloud (Azure or AWS).
