What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper- Facilities Engineering position at Arnot Health?
MAIN FUNCTION:
Maintains and cares for Hospital grounds. Reports to Facility Engineering Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Mows lawns, trims hedges, rakes leaves, cleans refuse, trims borders of driveways and sidewalks.
2. Keeps ice and snow off Hospital sidewalks entrances and parking lots.
3. Assists in planting and maintaining flower and plant beds.
4. Responsible for appearance of grounds and care of lawns, trees, shrubbery and flowers.
5. Responsible for cleaning and general good appearance of all Hospital entrances.
6. Maintains all grounds equipment on regular schedule.
7. Assists as required in Hospital pick-up service.
8. Performs limited roof maintenance, i.e., removes debris, moss and etc.
9. Assists in emergencies (fire, disaster, etc.).
10. Maintains appearance and cleanliness around Hospital compactor and incinerator.
11. Assumes duties of Lead Groundskeeper in his/her absence.
12. Promotes and fosters the mission and philosophy of the Hospital during performance of job duties and community activities.
13. Actively supports and participates in Hospital's Continuous Quality Improvement endeavors.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
15. This position requires you to follow standard precaution guidelines in all work situations.
16. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
17. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health.

EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Two year course in horticulture, landscaping or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year experience in gardening and nursery work.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stands, walks, crouches and kneels most of working day. Reaches for and handles tools and equipment.
Lifts and carries heavy tools and equipment. Color vision involved in determining condition of plants.
Works outdoors, winter and summer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must hold a Pesticide Applicator Certificate / or be able to obtain one.
2. Must hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
3. Must be able to operate and maintain the grounds equipment.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category III. Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
