EHS Specialist

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will be responsible for leading environmental compliance and driving key sustainability initiatives in the manufacturing setting. As a direct report to the EHS Manager, this team member also plays a key role in managing the Wastewater Treatment facility and personnel. Additionally, the EHS Specialist must adhere to our guiding principles of integrity, commitment, and excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serve as the primary environmental subject matter expert (SME) for the facility, providing guidance and support for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Lead environmental compliance activities and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports and regulatory filings to agencies including the EPA and Georgia EPD.
  • Manage environmental programs including:
    • Title V Air Permitting
    • NPDES Storm Water
    • RCRA Waste Management
    • NESHAP
    • NSPS
  • Oversee the Wastewater Treatment facility and supervise wastewater personnel.
  • Partner with Operations to develop and implement sustainable manufacturing processes.
  • Identify and execute environmental and sustainability improvement initiatives.
  • Attend daily production meetings to communicate environmental performance and resource needs.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation and environmental records in accordance with corporate standards.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training and plant communications.
  • Collaborate with Corporate EHS, regulatory agencies, and third-party consultants to maintain compliance and drive improvements.
  • Support plant safety initiatives, serving as a backup to the EHS Manager and providing approximately 20% safety support.
  • Supervise and develop a team of four direct reports.

  • Ability to build productive relationships with regulatory agencies, consultants, corporate teams, and plant leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance programs related to air, water, and waste management.
  • Experience supporting production operations while maintaining environmental compliance.
  • Proven ability to achieve performance objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience supervising and developing a small team.
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, QCS, AutoCAD, and regulatory reporting systems.
  • Experience managing environmental consultants and external compliance resources.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse manufacturing environment.
  • Travel requirement: Less than 10%.
