Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift Supervisor
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Night Shift Supervisor. This is a critical role that involves monitoring and supervising all functions necessary to promote quality care for residents during the night shift.
Responsibilities
- Treat all resident and personnel information as confidential.
- Comply with all established policies and procedures, maintaining standards of practice.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and manage replacements for call-offs.
- Assist attending physicians in resident care and manage chart preparation.
- Observe and assess resident health, communicate findings, and coordinate follow-ups.
- Review clinical records for accuracy and completeness, updating care plans as needed.
- Orient and supervise new nursing personnel on the assigned shift.
- Communicate effectively with families about resident conditions and address concerns.
- Prepare daily reports for the relieving supervisor, noting significant information.
- Provide direct care as needed and model tasks consistent with nursing standards.
- Ensure nursing staff follows proper protocols and maintains sound judgment and safety.
- Act as a liaison between residents, families, and physicians.
- Implement emergency plans as necessary and assume responsibilities for management on duty.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current and valid RN license in the state providing resident care.
- Experience with MatrixCare EMR is required.
- Two to four years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in geriatric long-term care.
- Possess compassion and understanding for older persons.
- Strong management abilities, with effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to react quickly in emergencies and handle unexpected resident behavior.
- Physical capability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform regular walking and standing.
Schedule
This position requires a variable night shift from 11 PM to 7 AM.
