Job Summary:
The Sr. Sanitation/Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing all sanitation operations to drive improved sanitation execution, enhance product consistency, and reduce waste within our USDA-regulated food manufacturing facility. In this role your immediate focus will be on leading the sanitation/ equipment, prep, sanitation & set up (EPSSU) team with a secondary role as a leader/mentor for our second shift operations team.
This role ensures that all cleaning and sanitizing procedures are effectively implemented and executed in compliance with USDA, FDA, HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards as well as company policies and procedures to ensure product safety and facility cleanliness. The Sr, Sanitation/Operations Supervisor is responsible for developing sanitation programs, managing sanitation teams, and ensuring ongoing support for food safety and audit readiness.
Responsibilities:
Sanitation (EPSSU) Leadership
EPSSU: Equipment Prep, Sanitation, and Setup
- Lead, manage, and execute all Sanitation (EPSSU) operations at the Hudson Northeast OH facility, ensuring compliance with USDA, FDA, ODA, SQFI, and GMP requirements while exceeding customer expectations.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Sanitation programs, policies, procedures, and maintain the highest sanitary conditions for our lines and facility. You will also uphold all plant safety standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with USDA, FDA, ODA, auditors, and customers regarding Sanitation, compliance, and partner with the Quality department to maintain their Microbiological testing programs.
- Actively safeguard products and facilities from contamination risks, ensuring consumer safety always.
- Oversee and improve sanitation programs and supplier audits as needed.
- Ensure that all company products are always of the highest quality possible.
Strategic & Operational Contributions
- Lead, manage, and mentor second shift Operations Supervisors and team members at the Hudson Northeast OH facility, ensuring compliance with USDA, FDA, ODA, SQFI, and GMP requirements while exceeding customer expectations.
- Partner with senior leadership to support and co-lead strategic initiatives, including company growth and expansion to additional plants.
- Drive performance based on established balanced KPI goals.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts across operations, including engineering initiatives, process enhancements, and production line development.
- Provide leadership and oversight to enhance the facility's safety programs.
- Support commercialization of new and existing filled and non-filled bakery products, ensuring alignment with quality and market expectations.
- Assist in the development of work instruction reference documents to ensure standard operations throughout our equipment, processes, and work teams.

Requirements / Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Sanitation, Microbiology, Biology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Working knowledge of FSMA, sanitary design, and total quality management principles.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of Op’s/ Sanitation and Food Safety experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of USDA regulations is a plus, as well as HACCP, GMP, and food safety requirements.
- Working experience in meat processing and/or bakery facilities with Raw and RTE preferred.
- Extensive experience creating, implementing, and enforcing sanitation procedures within a manufacturing environment with wet and dry sanitation.
- Experience in managing and training sanitation teams in a high-volume production facility.
- Demonstrated Servant Leadership skill set
- GFSI training/certification (preferably SQF)
- HACCP Certification
- Advanced sanitation training preferred
- Sanitary Design training preferred
- Ability to build, maintain, and drive results.
- Proven ability to pass and support USDA, FDA, GFSI, and third-party audits.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
