Role and Responsibilities:
Planning and Preparation:
Plan for pull-out instruction that range in size from 20-30 students
Collaborate with content parter and content lead
Collaboratively implement and modify, when necessary, aligned curriculum
Tailor lesson plans to individual learners and make adjustments based on formative assessment results
Develop appropriate instructional materials, activities, and lesson plans taking into consideration cognitive levels and age-appropriateness of students
Collaboratively utilize data to collaboratively create targeted intervention groups
Classroom Environment:
Utilize Culturally Responsive and Trauma Sensitive Practices within the classroom to support students
Present a warm and energetic personality
Create and maintain a safe and collaborative learning environment that motivates students to take academic risks, challenge themselves, and claim ownership of their learning.
Consistently model “Working Hard and Being Nice”.
Engaging Students in Learning:
Facilitate student-centered learning experiences where the students do the majority of the thinking during lessons in service of grade-level standards
Use SEI strategies to support students’ language acquisition
Collaboratively identify necessary supplemental resources and/or tiered supports to provide all students access to grade-level instruction.
Intentionally plan for student collaboration and opportunities for discussion
Professional Practice:
Collaborate with other educators and an Academic Dean / Coach
Attend and participate in weekly content planning, as well as individual coaching
Possess a growth mindset when it comes to engaging with relevant and vision-aligned professional learning
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
Participate in IEP, 504 and RtII meetings, when necessary
Participate in Family Engagement events/outreach
Partner with families to develop strong home to school connections
Additional Requirements:
Massachusetts Teacher Certification in appropriate area
Proficient in English Bilingual Candidates Highly Valued
