Laundry - Driver

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

• Perform various laundry operation duties including, but not limited to: driving trucks, loading/unloading vehicle, taking inventory of athletic towels for pick-up and delivery operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification/Abilities:

• High school diploma or GED from and accredited institution
• Valid Texas driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English
• Basic computer knowledge and skills preferred
• Must be physically able to lift and carry 50 pounds without assistance
• Job requires excessive standing, stooping, reaching, climbing, lifting and bending to delivery orders.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed

Minimum Experience:

• Three (3) years of experience as a delivery driver.
• Three (3) years of experience in laundry operations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Assist in taking physical inventory.
• Maintain schedule for pick-up and delivery of laundry items.
• Complete work orders which may include but are not limited to picking up additional athletic laundry items.
• Assist laundry foreman in all operations as assigned
• Any other duties assigned by laundry foreman.
• Ability to adhere to schedule for both delivery zones if necessary.
• Fill in all blanks and provide any information needed to complete Special Trip Sheets
• Keep daily log of miles driven and charge the miles to correct program on the time card
• Provide the Transportation Office with a complete description of assigned route and mileage measurements or any update needed of route description or mileage measurements
• Be able to communicate in English on the radio and in person
• All other duties as assigned by the manager or designee

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Three-ton and one-ton trucks
• Forklift
• Manual and electric pallet trucks
• Dollies
• Computers and scanners

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands:

• Occasional unassisted heavy lifting and carrying 50 pounds or more.
• Excessive unassisted moderate lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Excessive reaching, pushing, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing and use of extremities eight hours per day.
• Frequent operations of trucks, forklifts, pallet trucks and other laundry equipment.
• Must be able to see and hear clearly to perform these duties.

Environmental Factors:

• There will be outside and inside work in all weather conditions.
• There will be moderate amounts of dust, gasoline fumes and noise.
• There will be occasions when the laundry person will be required to operate warehouse equipment listed above and climb ladders.
