High School Physics Teacher (0.6 FTE)
Arlington High School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered High School Physics Teacher to join our Science Department.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned physics instruction using inquiry-based and phenomenon-driven approaches
- Design and facilitate laboratory investigations and hands-on learning experiences
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum alignment and student success
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or related field
- Appropriate state licensure (Physics or General Science 9–12)
- Strong content knowledge in physics
Preferred:
- Experience with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
- Experience teaching AP Physics
- Familiarity with inquiry-based and student-centered instructional practice
Candidates for teaching positions must be appropriately licensed for the position. Candidates must also be collaborative professionals who will work with general and special educators throughout the School and District. Must be willing to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students in the classroom. In addition, Arlington expects teachers to work diligently and collaboratively to implement the District's approved curriculum.
Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.

Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31, 2026. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
