POSITION SUMMARY
The Inventory Control Specialist manages the complete lifecycle of company-issued physical assets—including electronic logging devices (ELDs), permits, decals, and related equipment—across ARL’s terminal network and independent contractor base. This role ensures agents and drivers are properly equipped for compliant, uninterrupted operations through accurate inventory tracking, timely fulfillment, and disciplined process execution.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR
Success in this role is measured by on-time completion of all inventory fulfillment, cycle count, and audit tasks, with zero unprocessed administrative fees or invoicing discrepancies at month-end.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all corporate and terminal stock, tracking equipment from receipt through deployment, return, or disposal.
- Fulfill equipment orders for terminals and independent contractors based on operational need, ensuring timely shipping and delivery.
- Process and verify all inventory-related vendor invoices, flagging billing discrepancies and ensuring accurate charge documentation before payment approval.
- Execute the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process for defective equipment, and track and report on all lost or stolen assets.
- Perform regular cycle counts and inventory audits to reconcile physical stock against system records, investigating and resolving variances.
- Communicate proactively with agents by phone and email to determine inventory needs, coordinate shipments, and support agents in their documentation responsibilities.
- Monitor demand patterns and analyze inventory data across terminals to anticipate supply needs and prevent stockouts or overstock conditions.
- Maintain and update inventory tracking spreadsheets and systems with real-time accuracy.
- Follow and contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for receiving, fulfillment, cycle counts, and equipment distribution.
- Collaborate with the onboarding team to ensure new agents and contractors receive required equipment as part of a consistent, controlled process.
- Coordinate with inventory vendors on orders, returns, and service issues, escalating unresolved matters to management.
- Identify and recommend improvements to inventory control procedures based on agent feedback, team input, and data trends.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in inventory control, asset management, or logistics.
- Strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines consistently, and take ownership of tasks without waiting to be told.
- Proactive, self-directed problem solver who anticipates issues before they escalate and is eager to learn new systems and processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Familiarity with vendor invoice auditing and RMA processes.
- Transportation or trucking industry experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Full-time, on-site position at ARL’s Moon Two office in Moon Township, PA.
- May require occasional lifting of equipment packages (up to 30 lbs).
