arke by HC is supporting a major mission-critical data center project in Austin, Texas and is seeking an experienced Controls, PLC & SCADA Engineer to support commissioning, integration, and startup activities across critical infrastructure systems.
This position will play a key role in ensuring automation and control systems are fully operational, tested, and ready for handover within a high-availability data center environment.
Responsibilities
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs supporting mission-critical infrastructure
• Configure, integrate, and commission SCADA systems for monitoring and control of critical facility equipment
• Support startup, commissioning, functional testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) activities
• Troubleshoot controls, automation, networking, and system integration issues
• Review control sequences, points lists, and technical documentation to ensure systems operate as designed
• Work closely with commissioning teams, controls technicians, project managers, and client stakeholders
• Support FAT, SAT, Level 4 Commissioning, and site turnover activities
• Ensure all systems meet performance, reliability, and operational requirements prior to handover
Requirements
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar
• Hands-on experience with SCADA platforms including Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA/Wonderware, WinCC, or equivalent
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols including Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP, and OPC
• Experience supporting commissioning, startup, or operational readiness activities
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, P&IDs, and sequence of operations documents
• Strong troubleshooting skills within complex industrial or mission-critical environments
Preferred Experience
• Data center or mission-critical facility experience
• Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) integration experience
• EPMS, switchgear, UPS, generators, chillers, and critical power infrastructure controls experience
• Previous experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center projects
