The Arkansas Times is officially on the hunt for our next digital marketing director. We’re looking for a bold, strategic and creative leader ready to take the reins of our ambitious digital growth efforts.
Our current director is moving on to a new opportunity. This departure leaves big shoes to fill, and we’re not sugarcoating it: This is a big job, and we need to fill it quickly to maintain our momentum.
The ideal candidate is a tough self-starter with a deep understanding of the ever-changing digital landscape and a passion for independent journalism. You’ll be tasked with everything from growing digital subscriptions and developing email campaigns to running advertising operations, managing social content, crafting fundraising strategies and building out new products. You’ll also oversee key areas like website management, SEO strategy and event marketing — critical components of our digital ecosystem.
This is a role for someone who can dream big and deliver daily, who isn’t afraid to dive into data or defend a strategy, and who can steer a vision while juggling the fast-moving needs of a legacy newsroom undergoing digital transformation.

Content Strategy & Creation: Develop and execute content strategies across platforms.
Social Media Management: Plan and schedule social media posts and campaigns.
Email Marketing & Automation: Develop and manage email marketing campaigns.
Digital Advertising & Promotion: Develop digital advertising strategies across search, social, and display networks.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Set up and manage analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics, etc.).
SEO & SEM Management: Optimize website content, titles, and meta-descriptions for search engines.
Customer Acquisition & Lead Generation: Create strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
Website Management: Oversee website updates, maintenance, and content management.
Server & Hosting Management: Server troubleshooting and error resolution: Collaborate with hosting providers to quickly resolve any server issues, website crashes, or downtime incidents.
Product Development & Management: Collaborate with product teams to align marketing strategies.
Event Marketing & Management: Plan and execute digital campaigns for event promotion.
Community Engagement & Customer Support: Manage and respond to digital customer support requests.
Budget & Financial Management: Create and track budgets for digital marketing campaigns.
Vendor and Tool Management: Identify and manage relationships with digital marketing vendors.
Compliance & Security: Ensure data privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA).
Marketing Strategy & Planning: Outline and implement digital marketing strategies aligned with business goals.
Ad Campaign Management & Contract Review: Oversee ad campaign implementation on Broadstreet or similar ad platforms. Monitor ad performance and adjust campaigns based on real-time analytics.
Video Production & Editing: Capture and edit video footage for events, interviews, and promotional content.
Donor Relations & Fundraising: Assist with developing and implementing fundraising campaigns.
Subscription Management: Oversee subscription management for website subscribers.
Proficient Platforms: WordPress, Flywheel, Newspack, ActiveCampaign, Broadstreet, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Marketing Platform, Zoom, Meta Business Suite.
Coding and Web-Development experience is preferred.
