Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, providing chairside support with precision and efficiency.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient safety through proper radiation safety measures.
- Manage patient records using Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and dental coding.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging or other diagnostic tests as needed for comprehensive patient assessment.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures and enhance patient comfort.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by following infection control standards and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices.
- Familiarity with Open Dental is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly about procedures and post-care instructions.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous.
