Job Summary:
The Director of Health and Safety is responsible for the overall compliance and daily staffing operations of the residential treatment program. The Director of Health and Compliance oversees treatment specialist staff and direct-care employees (LPN) who are responsible for providing quality care to the Residential Program residents. The Director will oversee the health, and compliance of the facilities, while managing direct-care staff and providing oversight to the kitchen operations and patient menus.
Additionally, the Director provides compliance monitoring and regulatory oversight for Pathways 2 Learning (P2L), ensuring all health and safety protocols are met within the childcare facility.

Essential Duties & Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Health and Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing health, safety, and compliance protocols at Lake Point Recovery and Wellness and monitoring adherence to regulatory standards at Pathways 2 Learning. This role includes conducting safety audits, overseeing emergency preparedness, and ensuring all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The Director manages training for staff on safety procedures, maintains documentation for audits and inspections, and coordinates incident responses. By fostering a safe environment, the Director of Health and Safety supports a high standard of care and regulatory compliance across both facilities.
Health and Safety Management
· Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures for Lake Point Recovery and Wellness and Pathways 2 Learning.
· Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
Director of Health and Safety
· Respond to and manage any health or safety incidents, coordinating necessary follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
· Provide ongoing training and education to staff on health and safety practices, emergency protocols, and incident reporting.
· Manage and complete all medical critical and non-critical forms.
· Facilitate and communicate doctor days, including relaying doctor's orders accurately.
· Send requests for prescription purchases and track them as needed.
· Review kitchen invoices to ensure budget compliance.
· Facilitate and set the agenda for Pathways 2 Learning (P2L) staff meetings.
· Implements infection control activities that include training regarding the prevention and control of infections and communicable diseases
· Serve as a committee member on discharge committee.
Regulatory Compliance
· Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, including OSHA, DBHS, CARF, and child safety regulations relevant to Pathways 2 Learning.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to demonstrate compliance for audits, inspections, and licensing reviews.
· Monitor changes in health and safety regulations and update policies and procedures as needed.
· Participate in all inspections, audits, and evaluations.
· Ensures residential dorms and facilities are safe and are in compliance with all Health performance standards.
· Inspects first aid kits monthly and as needed
Monitoring and Quality Assurance
· Develop and oversee quality assurance processes for client and child safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
· Establish routine health and safety monitoring protocols to track compliance at both Lake Point Recovery and Pathways 2 Learning.
· Analyze incident reports and identify trends to develop preventative measures and mitigate risk across both facilities.
Policy Development and Enforcement
· Draft, review, and enforce health and safety policies that reflect current industry standards and align with each facility’s needs.
· Collaborate with facility leadership and staff to ensure policies are effectively communicated, understood, and applied.
· Regularly review policies and practices to ensure they meet the operational needs of Lake Point Recovery and Pathways 2 Learning.
Training and Professional Development
· Design and deliver staff training programs on health and safety practices, emergency response, and compliance requirements.
Director of Health and Safety
· Create orientation materials and regular refresher sessions for both facilities to maintain high standards in health and safety practices.
· Keep records of staff training, certifications, and compliance with mandatory training requirements
Emergency Response and Crisis Management
· Develop, implement, and periodically test emergency response plans for Lake Point Recovery and Pathways 2 Learning.
· Lead emergency drills and simulations, ensuring staff are prepared to handle various scenarios, including fire, medical emergencies, and evacuation.
· Act as the primary contact during emergency situations, coordinating responses and communications with staff and authorities as needed.
Facility and Equipment Oversight
· Conduct regular assessments of facility infrastructure, medical equipment, and safety supplies to ensure they are in good working order and compliant with regulations.
· Coordinate maintenance or replacement of safety equipment and ensure that emergency kits are adequately stocked and accessible.
Collaboration and Reporting
· Work closely with directors and program managers at Lake Point Recovery and Pathways 2 Learning to ensure integrated health and safety practices.
· Provide regular reports on safety incidents, compliance status, and risk management efforts to senior leadership.
· Participate in leadership meetings and provide input on health, safety, and compliance-related matters.

Requirements:
● High School Diploma or equivalent is required
● Must be RADD, CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified
● Minimum of three (2) years’ experience working with adults and families in a substance abuse, behavioral, and/or mental health treatment setting.
● Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
