JOB SUMMARY: Update patient demographic information on EMR software for both new/established patients before their scheduled appointments. Verify insurance eligibility through computer system. Collect monies owed by patient. Schedule follow up appointments for patients. Close clinic on assigned night.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet Patients as they enter our facility in a friendly and professional manner.
- Verify cash draw three times daily (opening, noon, closing).
- Established Patient:
- Check patients in for their scheduled appointments by verifying demographics (address, emergency contact, pharmacy, telephone numbers, insurance company, authorization/consent form).
- Run eligibility on patient's insurance. If unable to verify patient's coverage by using our eligibility and our websites that are available, then we should notify insurance representative for assistance.
- Collect copays and balances due on accounts.
- Send patients to appropriate waiting room area to be seen.
- New Patients:
- Check patients in for their scheduled appointments by adding demographics (address, emergency contact, pharmacy, telephone numbers, insurance company, authorization/consent form).
- Scan photo ID and insurance cards into system.
- Run eligibility on patient's insurance. If unable to verify patient's coverage by using our eligibility and our websites that are available, then we should notify insurance representative for assistance.
- In the note section of the patient's chart, notate any documentation that may be missing and needed by the patient on the next visit ( insurance card copy, photo id, social security number)
- Collect copays and balances due on accounts.
- Have patient complete history and physical forms for those physicians that require this form to be completed prior to the visit as well as the medication form.
- Send patients to appropriate waiting room area to be seen.
- Answer incoming phone calls regarding prescriptions, medical records, follow up appointments and general information.
- Maintain patient written prescriptions, samples, forms /letters in a locked cabinet while requiring patients/authorized persons to have required identification in order to receive any of the listed items.
- Maintain a log book for signatures to be obtained for all items to be signed off for in item E.
- Scan the daily obituaries and make documentation on charts for any deceased patients, giving the physician a copy of obituary notifying him/her of patient's passing.
- Send messages to physicians/nurses from walk in patients requesting various items (prescriptions, referrals, forms to be completed, and lab results).
- Direct patient's to different areas of the clinic (lab, x-ray, specialist)
- Work in fax server putting documents in patient folders when time permits to help with workload in scan room.
- Prepare receipts for end of day by balancing all credit card slips, cash and checks and then handing them over to poster.
- Count cash drawer verifying it balances then putting in a way for night in designated secure area.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Computer experience a must!
Physical Requirements: Lift up to 10 lbs., must be able to bend, stoop and sit for lengthy periods of time.
