For more than twenty years after our founder, Dr. Patrick Walker, wrote his goals on the back of a napkin, our people, culture, and values have remained strong.About the position: As a Laboratory Technician in Training, you will train in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.What you'll do: Clinical DutiesResponsible for becoming proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:Assess tissue adequacy for testingPerform quality control checks on materials producedComplete equipment maintenance and logsDevelop problem-solving skills—determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of actionControlling operations of equipment and systemsMonitor and assess performance of self to make improvements or take corrective actionAssist in Lab for other duties as assignedPractice safe work procedures while performing job dutiesPeriodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits Administrative DutiesAssist in AccessioningMaintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheetsOther duties as assignedRequirementsAll SOPs must be followedAny discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section LeadLaboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintainedYou should have: Education: Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university with at least 12 semester hours biology and chemistry. Certification eligibleExperience: Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills. Prefer 2 years of lab experience but not requiredComputer Skills: Proficient in MS WordOther Requirements: Eligible to sit for the National HT/HTL exam after 1 year of employmentSchedule options: Monday-Friday 5:30am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday 6:00am-3:00pm, or Tuesday-Friday 6:00am-3:00pm and every Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm.
