Are you a skilled craftsman with a passion for woodworking? ARKA Cabinets is seeking a talented Cabinetmaker to join our team and bring custom cabinetry and furniture projects to life. In this role, you will create and build both built-in and freestanding cabinets and furniture, ensuring high standards of quality and precision.
ARKA Cabinets is a boutique custom woodworking shop located in Hillsboro.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately build projects according to specifications, adhering to time and high standards of quality
- Utilize a range of tools, including saws, power tools, sanders, hand tools, wood glue, screws, dowels, and fasteners.
- Cut, shape, and prepare wood surfaces to construct complete projects.
- Sand surfaces.
- Assemble cabinet components including boxes, doors, shelves, and drawers, ensuring all pieces fit together correctly.
- Attach specified door pulls and hardware, and hang cabinet doors on frames.
- Understand and follow detailed blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate assembly.
- Inspect each assembled cabinet for defects or irregularities, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Keep the assembly area organized and clean, removing debris and ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success of the projects.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of different joinery methods, such as dovetail, mortise and tenon, and biscuit joints.
- Skills in installing cabinet hardware, such as hinges, handles, and slides.
- Expertise in cutting, shaping, and assembling wood components.
- Knowledge of various woodworking techniques and finishes.
- Proficient in using both hand tools (e.g., chisels, planes) and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, sanders).
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a cabinet-building apprenticeship or similar training is preferred.
- Relevant work experience is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
