Summary Of Function
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff and Chief Information Officer, the Project/Technical Assistant provides administrative, operational, and technical support for Technology Department functions and student-facing services. This position coordinates projects and programs, supports department operations, facilitates communication and scheduling, and assists with technology purchasing and documentation to ensure efficient workflows and effective service delivery to students, employees, and campus partners.
Typical Duties
- Serves Students. Coordinates and facilitates the Student Laptop Program and oversees the process from application, scheduling, and return of devices.
- Utilizes project management and related software applications to support projects, assist with system configuration and updates, and provide basic training and support to users.
- Coordinates event logistics and assists with planning activities; records and distributes meeting notes; and maintains and replenishes department supply inventory.
- Oversees the IT welcome area by assisting students and employees, managing phones and inquiries, and providing frontline support. Supports technicians and department staff, especially during peak service periods and high-volume service cycles.
- Provides direct scheduling and calendar support for the Chief Information Officer and coordinates and manages appointments for department leadership.
- Facilitates technology purchasing within the department and by coordinating with college departments to assess needs, obtain quotes, process orders, and track shipments.
- Supports and coordinates communication between the Chief Information Officer and Technology Department leadership. Assists with Policy and Procedure reviews to include creation of new procedures and practices.
- Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma
- One year of clerical, project management, computer technology, network systems, or related experience

- Up to 19 hours per week
- Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
- Knowledge of IT service delivery models and frontline technical support environments
- Knowledge of basic project management principles and tools
- Knowledge of technology asset lifecycle management
- Knowledge of procurement and purchasing processes
- Knowledge of meeting coordination, administrative support practices, and executive calendar management
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operations
- Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time
- Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
- Skill in coordinating logistics for programs, events, and services
- Skill in maintaining accurate records and inventories
- Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
- Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide assistance in a professional and supportive manner

- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
- May lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times, a minimum of 10 pounds
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or twist
- May be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation, and as needed to support program, department, and institutional needs
