Lead Veterinary Technician

 

The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a full time Lead Veterinary Technician to join our competitive paying, non-profit veterinary clinic, and work 4 10 hour shifts. A Day in the Life:

As the Lead Veterinary Technician, you'll set the tone on the clinic floor by guiding and mentoring your team while ensuring every patient and client receives exceptional care. Your day will include supporting veterinarians in exams, surgeries, and diagnostics; overseeing patient flow to keep appointments and procedures running smoothly; and performing a wide range of technical skills from anesthesia monitoring to lab work. You'll play a key role in client communication, helping pet owners understand treatment plans and home care, while maintaining accurate records and well-organized inventory. Each day brings the opportunity to lead by example, strengthen your team, and make a meaningful impact in your community.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High schooldiploma/GED required.
  • Four years of experience working as a veterinary technician at a general practice/full-service clinic required.
  • One year of leadership experience required.
  • Able to speak, read and write English; Spanish language helpful.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Proficiency with Daysmart preferred, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
