The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Manager to join our Capacity and Flow team at our Papago Park Campus. This position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM. If you're a strong leader with a passion for animal welfare, we'd love to hear from you!

A Day in the Life:

As the Capacity & Flow Manager, you'll lead our Capacity and Flow and Shelter Surgery teams, driving efficiency, teamwork, and exceptional animal care. Your day includes overseeing daily operations and staffing - recruiting, training, coaching, and developing high-performing teams - while ensuring smooth animal flow through the shelter system. You'll run morning capacity calls, monitor intake and kennel assignments, and collaborate with departments across the organization to maintain balanced shelter capacity. With a sharp focus on compliance, you'll uphold all state, federal, DEA, and OSHA standards, prepare the clinic for inspections, and refine policies and SOPs to meet veterinary board requirements. You'll also manage budgets, guide purchasing decisions, and analyze key data to inform strategic goals. In this dynamic leadership role, your problem-solving, organization, and compassion will keep operations running smoothly and help save the Valley's most vulnerable animals.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High schooldiploma/GED required.
  • CVT or CVMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a veterinary technician role required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience leading teams required.
  • High volume spay neuter experience preferred
  • Knowledge of AZ Premise and DEA requirements preferred.
  • Experience in an animal welfare organization preferred.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, ability to solve complex problems, and be able to balance multiple priorities.
  • Ability to flourish in a high-volume, fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, possess conflict resolution skills, and flourish at relationship building.
  • Able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Spanish language helpful.
  • Able to develop budgets and estimate costs.
  • Above average proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; able to learn Chameleon database and other software programs as necessary.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
