Arizona’s first and only autism-focused charter school is seeking a School Wellness Certified Nursing Assistant to work at our new Mesa East Valley Campus. Under the supervision and direction of the School Nurse, the School Wellness Certified Nursing Assistant will be responsible for supporting students with medical needs on the campus.
Duties:
- Administer student medications under the direct training and supervision of the district School Nurse
- Support students who are medically fragile in their daily living at school at the West Valley Campus
- Support a student 1:1 with medical and physical needs during the school day
- Support students’ individualized medical/emergency plans under the direction of the district School Nurse
- Track chronic illness documentation and ensure communication to the Registrar, School Nurse, and the classroom teacher
- Prioritize and administer basic first aid following the assessment of injured students
- Communicate effectively and proactively with students, families, and the district School Nurse
- Ability to work as part of a team and handle critical situations safely and effectively
- May be used as a backup to cover the front desk
- Participate in annual and ongoing staff training
- Other duties as directed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid CNA certification with the Arizona State Board of Nursing
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
- 1-2 years of experience working with students with various medical needs, with specific experience with autism preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate general medical equipment

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
