About The Role
The Permitting Specialist is responsible for securing all licenses and permits necessary to have external customers on-air on time and within budget. The Specialist ensures compliance with all applicable agreements and regulatory requirements during all stages of site selection, construction and ongoing operations. Primary responsibilities include timely and accurate application for required licenses, permits and commercial electric service connections. The Specialist will monitor application timelines, effectively forecast anticipated receipt of authorizations, and assist in escalating delays internally and externally, as necessary. Requires working knowledge of governing state and federal regulations, relevant construction codes and processes, as well as frequent interface with internal and external partners. The Specialist must update systems timely and communicate effectively, developing operational level subject matter expertise, proposing jurisdictional permitting and zoning solutions to customers, both internal and external. Requires knowledge of municipal processes, codes and ordinances, as well as frequent interface with local governments and jurisdictions.

This role falls into our hybrid work model, which is 2-days work from home (Friday and Monday) and 3-days in the office (Tuesday through Thursday) to optimize collaboration, relationship building and key stakeholder engagement and may require some travel as needed.
Compensation
The pay range offered for this position is $32.54 - $44.75 Hourly. A candidate’s offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives

What You Will Do
- Submit and acquire authorizations, approvals, and agreements as required from jurisdictions and utilities to install Arium Networks facilities both in the public right of way and on private property
- Review drawings for compliance with jurisdiction and/or utility standards
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal functional groups to resolve issues, to facilitate progress and to achieve milestone targets, with the goal of delivering networks on-time and on-budget
- Escalation point for resident complaints to our Network Operations Center
- Assist in researching and preparing authorization analyses detailing the applicable process and associated costs and timelines for each jurisdiction contemplated in new project opportunity bids
- Addresses tactical challenges to successful, timely and cost-effective acquisition of authorizations or service connections, including resolution of application rejections or denials, violations, etc. on matters related to applicable laws, codes and ordinances as interpreted by internal legal counsel.
- Timely system updates, including accurate forecasting and milestone task completion
- Communicate effectively with all customers, both internal and external, during all stages of network deployment and operations
- Interface with jurisdictional staff on matters related to applicable laws, codes and ordinances and effectively communicate and leverage regulatory status in support of deployment objections
- Provides research and advice to internal clients regarding conditions of attachment to regulated infrastructure and/or Arium-owned infrastructure within the rights-of-way
- Responsible for representing Arium Networks before local agencies, planning authorities, city councils and/or utilities
- Manage third party vendors when so required, including but not limited to: expediters, outside counsel, Third party inspectors, etc.
- Consistent with internal legal interpretations, comprehend and serve as an operational subject matter expert on matters related to applicable state & federal telecommunications regulations
- Foundational understanding of project budgets and expenses related to permits and service connections.
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- JD or legal background preferred but not required
- A minimum of two years of proven experience in municipal planning, and/or Land Use capacity or Wireless Industry required
- Experience presenting and speaking to public government entities desired
- Demonstrated experience navigating corporate environment and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders Required
