Empowering a Bright 56-Year-Old woman to Live Life to the Fullest

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for a kind and caring 56-year-old woman with developmental disabilities. The position is flexible, up to 23 hours a week and the pay is $19.00. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide high-quality care, mentorship, and assistance, fostering independence and helping him achieve his personal goals both at home and in the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and respectful support in daily living activities at home and in the community
• Mentor to teach Positive Communication Skills, Assist Person To Participate In Hobby, Club Or Class Of Interest and assist with paperwork.
• Encourage and facilitate active participation in community outings and recreational activities
• Promote independence and self-confidence through personalized care and goal-setting
• Ensure a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment at all times
• Support the individual in achieving personal milestones and fostering a sense of belonging
• Empowering Individuals: Support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live as independently and meaningfully as possible.
• Facilitating Daily Life: Assist with a variety of daily living tasks tailored to the individual's specific needs,
• Encouraging Life Skills: Teach and promote the development of new life skills such as cooking, gardening, and social interaction. Encourage participation in outdoor activities and help foster community engagement.
• Documenting Progress: Maintain accurate, detailed records of daily activities and progress toward individual goals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in direct support or caregiving roles is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with, and experience working with, individuals with developmental disabilities a plus
• Excellent communication skills for positive interactions with individuals, their families, and team members.
• Compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in helping others reach their highest potential.
• Ability to pass background checks as required by state regulations.

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Effective communication and organizational skills required.
• Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
• Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
• Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.
