Responsibilities: We are looking for a patient and enthusiastic voice teacher to provide in-home lessons for students of various skill levels. The ideal candidate will create fun engaging lessons tailored to each student's needs/goals while fostering a love for music. Responsibilities include: teaching one on one voice lesson in students' home; customize lessons based on skill level and learning style; teach proper vocal techniques, including breathing, tone, pitch, and projection; Help students improve vocal range, control, and stamina; Assist with song interpretation, stage presence, and performance confidence; offer guidance on vocal health; prepare students for auditions, performances, or recitals; encourage students' progress and love for music; communicate with parents about student progress. Requirements include strong understanding of vocal techniques and music theory; experience as a vocal coach, tutor, or professional singer; ability to work with students of all ages and skill levels; previous teaching experience preferred, reliable transportation and (Preferred) Degree in Music, Vocal Performance, or a related field. Teachers will go in homes of families to support students and their needs. Music teachers will help students practice and learn new material based on their level. Teacher training is provided if necessary.
Hours/Schedule: Tutors are able to make their own hours and schedule with families that have expressed interest in the program. We let tutors know what is needed and they can accept or deny the specific teaching opportunity. For example, a family might be looking for a guitar teacher for an hour once a week during after-school hours and we would offer the opportunity to music teachers. We require a semester-long commitment from the tutor and a signed contract. This role allows for tutors to create their own schedule and is a part time position.
Location Expectations: Teachers must be willing to go and travel in homes. The general area for this position is Peoria. We try to keep locations close, but it is always up to the tutor whether or not they take the teaching opportunity.
Licenses: No license required.
Degree Requirement: Teachers and tutors must have a high school degree.
Tutor Experience: Tutors must have previous experience helping others with vocal performance. You should also have a competent understanding of the area they will be tutoring in. We train tutors so they can better understand what a session should look like and what they need to be doing.
Music Experience: Music teachers must have basic knowledge of vocal performance and vocal teaching methods.
Teacher Cancellation Policy: If you plan to be out of town or are sick, please let us know as soon as possible. We can help you reschedule your lesson with the family/student you are tutoring or find a substitute for you if needed.
Compensation for Music Teachers: $20/half hour
