Therapists will help people manage and overcome mental and emotional issues. Therapists will listen to patients and ask questions to help understand their problems and develop strategies to improve their lives. Therapists will diagnose, treat, and help patients create coping strategies. Therapists will counsel, listen, support, and monitor patients for progress. Therapists will work with individuals and groups and will help provide community resources for clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing patient substance use, mental and emotional disorders
  • Working and clinical groups, communities, and individual patients
  • Evaluating patient through conversations, interviews, and observations to determine correct testing or examination
  • Developing a treatment plan that may include therapy, medication, or other services
  • Setting patient goals and discussing treatment plan
  • Encouraging, supporting, and listening to patients
  • Helping patients discuss experiences and emotions
  • Assisting patients through difficult life changes and challenges
  • Educating patient on strategies and coping skills
  • Referring patients to resources like psychiatrists or community services
  • Accessing patient needs, and developing strategy to help patient
  • Maintaining good working relationships with support networks, government resources, and community resources
  • Advising and guiding patients through difficult decisions
  • Helping patients with a variety of issues such as substance abuse, bullying, anger management, depression, relationships, stress, and suicide

Relationships and Responsibilities:

  • Report to Clinical Director
  • Maintain supervision with individual supervisors for licenses.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing excellent client care.
  • Creating treatment plans according to client needs, and adjusting them as necessary.
  • Completes or designates insurance authorizations, concurrent reviews, and discharges and monitors scheduled review dates and needed documentation for insurance reimbursement.
  • Assesses individual client needs and monitors client progress toward specific goals and objectives. Performs chemical dependency assessments, counseling, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Develops short- and long-term treatment goals using database information, needs assessment information, and referral source input.
  • Assist clients in reaching their optimal level of psychosocial functioning through resolving negative patterns, prevention, rehabilitation, and improving quality of life.
  • Other duties as assigned by the clinical Director.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport and maintain effective therapeutic relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and effectively manage time and caseload.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree in psychology, clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related mental health field, from school accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs
  • Hold one of the following licensures, current a valid in Kentucky: LCACD, LCSW LPCC, LCADCA, CSW LPCA, CADC

  • Self-directed and self-motivated
  • Comfortable with building personal relationships and dedicated to helping others
  • Empathetic and supportive with mentorship and leadership skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to work with different insurance companies and note appropriately to obtain authorization for services rendered/needed.
