The Compliance Specialist will support the organization’s compliance program by performing the day-to-day operational activities necessary to maintain regulatory compliance and organizational integrity. This position assists with compliance monitoring, investigations, auditing, policy management, employee education, and documentation while collaborating with clinical and operational teams to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and company policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable health care compliance and privacy federal / state requirements and compliance & privacy policies and procedures; participates in health care compliance and privacy professional organizations to stay abreast of privacy and corporate compliance developments and leading industry practices.
- Perform daily compliance department functions to support the organization’s compliance program.
- Support preparation for regulatory inspections, accreditation surveys, and external audits.
- Assist with the development, revision, and distribution of compliance policies and procedures.
- Respond to routine compliance inquiries from staff and management.
- Conduct routine compliance audits and monitoring activities according to the annual compliance work plan.
- Assist with investigating compliance concerns, hotline reports, and potential policy violations.
- Gather documentation and interview appropriate personnel when assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality throughout investigative processes.
- Coordinate compliance training for new hires and existing employees.
- Maintain compliance training records and completion reports.
- Ensure compliance records are complete, accurate, and organized.
- Assist with data collection and trend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in departmental meetings and compliance initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Education & Training Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, though extensive experience in healthcare revenue cycle, clinical care, auditing, clinical operations, privacy or compliance will be considered
- Requires two (2) years in health care related field; One to two years in compliance and risk management preferred
- Knowledge of pertinent compliance and privacy regulatory requirements and compliance program elements including demonstrated understanding of OIG Compliance Guidelines, billing compliance principles, and HIPAA Privacy requirements.
- HCCA CHC and CHPC certifications preferred
- Able to and enjoys working in an ever-changing fast paced environment
- Ability to work with multiple projects at one time and can discern where to focus energy when priorities complete or clash, flexibility and accommodating to assigned priorities

- Onsite in office position at the corporate headquarters in Overland Park, KS.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during audits and meetings.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and computer systems.
